Noodli ( Hungarian Potato Noodles )

    My grandmother used to make this dish when i was a child,now every time i eat noodli i remember about those great days. Basically they are boiled potatoes with white flour , bread crumbs and sugar , but they taste delicious and you can have them as dessert or meal.

Ingredients :
  • 5 medium size potatoes
  • 360 g of white flour 
  • 1 egg
  • bread crumbs
  • sugar


1. Making this recipe requires time, because you have to boil the potatoes in skin ( add  some salt ) and they are done when they get soft enough to be mashed.Let them cool then remove the skin.

2. Mash potatoes, mix with egg and season with salt and pepper.





3. Add flour gradually, until you achieve a soft dough . If it`s sticky you can add some extra flour , but not to much , the dough is not supposed to be hard.


4. Take a small handful of dough and roll it with your hands or against the table top, until you get a 1 cm diameter noodle, and cut it in 3-5  cm length.


5. In a large pot boil the potato , uncovered, with some salt for about 15 minutes. When they are ready they should rise to the surface of the water. Dry the noodles.


6. Melt some margarine / oil in the frying pan , add the bread crumbs, heat them and stir from once in a while until they are lightly brown. Then roll the potato noodles in the bread crumbs . Place them on a separate plate ,and add sugar ( optional )
